Mariana Méndez is a designer whose work sits at the intersection of design, art and fashion. Her creations explore the three-dimensional object as a functional piece, developed through more than twenty years of research into artisanal techniques and innovative textile constructions.

Her career began in Milan at the age of 23, where her first collections were immediately introduced in some of the world’s most influential concept stores. Her work entered — and continues to be present in many of — internationally renowned retailers including 10 Corso Como, Joyce Hong Kong, Liberty London, Takashimaya New York, Beams, Horst Wanshura and Grabner.

2008

Yohji Yamamoto commissioned Mariana Méndez to design the bags for his Y’s line. This collaboration marked a turning point in her trajectory: working alongside one of the most influential figures in contemporary fashion, the designer deepened her exploration of the relationship between the body and the object.

Within this context, her creative language became more defined and expansive, giving rise to pieces that dissolve the boundaries between garment and bag—establishing a vision in which each creation transcends the notion of accessory to become a natural extension of the person who carries it.

2026

Today, Mariana Méndez is developing an exclusive collaboration with the LVMH group, creating a collection of pieces available exclusively in the boutiques of the Belmond hotels under the label “Mariana Méndez for Belmond.”

Operating at the intersection of fashion, collectible design and cultural objects, the brand positions itself within the emerging space of “new luxury,” where craftsmanship, narrative and limited production converge to create long-term cultural and commercial value.
