MARIANA MÉNDEZ was born in the Spring of 1998 — entirely produced in Venezuela and sold in some of the finest stores in the world.
In just two seasons, the Brand grew exponentially. Each piece was handmade in a Caracas courtyard, where a group of women began with a single white elastic thread and transformed it into objects of design.
One year later, Venezuela entered a dark chapter that would change everything. In the Spring of 1999, our entire production was intercepted and destroyed by those who swore to protect the country.
I made the difficult decision to relocate to Barcelona just before everything that shaped me began to collapse. In the years that followed, eight million others would do the same.
I rebuilt myself in silence — inside and out — afraid this story would not be understood.
Today, the world finally sees what it refused to acknowledge for twenty-six years.
Pain has transformed into Power. The change is IRREVERSIBLE. There is no force more powerful than the one that emerges when you allow pain to transform you.
